contents: This was the first women's magazine in Dutch to appear on the market. It was edited from 1821-1835 by Anna Barbara van Meerten-Schilperoort, the wife of a clergyman, and published by the well-known Amsterdam publisher and bookseller G.J.A. Beyerinck. It was a monthly magazine and must certainly have filled a need. Even Queen Sophie was interested: on the list of subscribers she is the first to be named with six subscriptions. Its attraction was notably formed by the needlework section with elaborate instructions and fold-out, hand- coloured engravings. Besides the needlework section there was also a 'literature' section, but without pictures.
