contents: At the world fair in Philadelphia in 1876, among a large number of products and services from the Netherlands, a stand was set up by the Vereeniging ter Bevordering van de Belangen des Boekhandels. There were spacious showcases in neo-Renaissance style in which a large number of books were on show that had been published in the Netherlands. In the centre, a large glass case with the collected works of Vondel, published by M.H. Binger, on which the bust of the great writer had been placed. The other busts were the three stars of the 19th century: Bilderdijk, Tollens and Van Lennep.
