contents: Binding of gold-tooled blue morocco. Both covers are tooled with straight and curved lines and tendrils. The spine has a continuous pattern of tendrils. Joannes Vincentius van den Heuvel (1805-1891) is considered the best Hague binder of the 19th century. He had been abroad for a time and had studied various methods and styles of binding and decorating there.
