contents: Blind- and gold-tooled blue velvet binding. Both covers have a blind line panel and within it a decoration of Moresque-like curls. The coat of arms of William III is in the centre. Velvet was in the 19th century also regularly used for bindings. The binding is an example of the renewed application of decorative styles from the past, here the Moresque, popular in the French art of binding from around 1550.
