contents: Gold-tooled binding of red velvet. Both covers are decorated with a line panel and large, semi-naturalistic, semi-neo-baroque corner tools. In the centre of the front cover is Minerva, the goddess of wisdom and patroness of the arts. Binders in the 19th century regularly used velvet besides morocco, saffian and shagreen.
