contents: Marco Polo of Venice made his journey to China from 1275-1295 When he was in prison in Genoa a few years later, he dictated his experiences to a cell mate. After his story had circulated in many manuscripts a German translation appeared in print in 1477. The edition by Leeu is the first Latin one. Publishers aimed with their mostly Latin publications both at the local, national, and the international market. The earliest editions have, just like the manuscripts, no title page. Instead, the first page of the book starts with the standard opening: incipit, `Here beginneth.'. This is also the case with this book by Leeu.
