Teaching material such as this was worn out by pupils and in the past often not considered worth preserving. Until recently, only fragments of the Deventer edition of 1521 were known to exist in the municipal archives of Kampen. Editions of the poems by Baptista Mantuanus (1448-1516), an Italian Carmelite, were much used in his days in grammar school teaching.
