The publication of the book led to a lot of commotion and legal proceedings against the author and the book. Vondel was fined and the book forbidden and taken out of circulation. This, however, was counterproductive as the demand for the book increased in such a way that within a few months seven reprints were necessary. origineel: source: Vondel, Joost van den - Palamedes oft Vermoorde onnooselheyd.
