contents: Linotype machines of this kind were produced at the Linotype Company in England, founded in 1890. There were about thirty of this type of composing machines in operation in the Netherlands. Operating them was fairly simple and quick but, on the other hand, they were prone to technical hitches. Linotypes such as these were used particularly in the printing offices of newspapers
