contents: A printing house which was modern for those days (around 1900) with electrically driven cylinder presses. Only two people, mostly women, were needed to operate these. They worked for about 60 hours a week and were not paid very well. It was only in the 20th century that the Algemene Nederlandse Typografenbond (ANTB), which was established in 1866, was able to bring about an increase in wages in the printing trade in spite of the introduction of ever faster machines which put wages under pressure.
