Of the original premises only the front of the Bushuis has been preserved and some parts of the Handboogdoelen (Longbow Shooting Range). The latter dates back to around 1517 and was used since 1862 by the Athenaeum Illustre. In 1880 it became available for the library of the University of Amsterdam (officially founded as such in 1877). The Bushuis of 1606 was added to the building of the University Library between 1936 and 1957.
