contents: This illustration of a rotary press comes from a typographical dictionary and the associated entry is: 'Newspaper press where cylindrical stereotype plates are screwed to the cylinders. In these presses which can of course print other printed matter use is made of 'papier-sans-fin', endless paper, in the form of rolls instead of sheets'. Rotary presses had a very high printing speed and were much more suitable for printing newspapers than ordinary cylinder presses. Rotary presses which were installed in the Netherlands came from Germany, like this one, or from France.
