contents: French periodical on literature published in The Hague between 1713 and 1723. It was the first magazine in the Netherlands to put together by an editorial team which considered itself to be responsible as one for the content and not just by a single person. The content was primarily book reviews which invited fierce discussions and arguments among the members of the editorial team itself and among the readers. A real "poet's battle" was unleashed in the Republic just as elsewhere in Europe. The print on the left shows Minerva, goddess of wisdom and patroness of the arts, surrounded by allegorical representations of the liberal arts. As was usual with this kind of title page, a library is also depicted.
