contents: During the Week of the book it was usual to hold shop window contests. S. van der Hoef, a bookshop and reading library since 1887 in Amsterdam, won first prize during the Week of the book of 1934 with the motto 'Give a book'. The gift which was received if a purchase was made of at least Fl. 2.50 was, of course, the Week of the book gift. In 1934 that was a folder with twelve portraits (postcards) of authors.
