contents: In addition to books in bookshops, books were also sold by pedlars and hawkers. Their wares consisted of small printed matter, such as pamphlets, songbooks, almanacs, etc., which they carried along in a basket hung with a cord around their necks or around their middles. On this frontispiece a satyr is represented as pedlar/ bookseller. The book contains an anthology of `elegant satires' by `eminent men': well-known authors such as Justus Lipsius, the Emperor Justinian, Seneca, Petrus Nannius and others.
