contents: Gold-tooled red morocco binding. Both boards are tooled with two frames one with pearl rolls, the other consisting of straight lines with a flower motif in the corners. The diamond central tooling is made by flowers around a medallion. The binding belongs to a group of Leiden dissertations bound in a similar way, hence the nickname.
