contents: Title page of a well-known treatise on the wisdom and virtue of women, written by Johan van Beverwijck, town physician, custodian of the town library and trustee of the Dordrecht grammar school. The curious printer's device belongs to the town printer Hendrick van Esch, who had been working in Dordrecht from 1633. It represents the patroness of Dordrecht, bearing books, with the motto `Virgo Dordracena libros non liberos pariens': the patroness of Dordrecht, bearing books not children.
