contents: Cylinder presses could be driven by steam or manpower. In this picture the printer turns a wheel which causes the printing cylinders to roll over the solid matter. Two boys are required to place the paper in the press and to remove it again. In this way the three of them managed a production of 1000 to 1200 prints per hour. Cylinder presses of C.A. Reichenbach in Augsburg were famous and also used in the Netherlands.
