contents: Overview of the working hours, holidays, weekly wages and number of employees at the bookbindery of J. Brandt, from 1834 until 1942, the year when the firm had its bicentenary. Even in wartime the situation of the average bookbinder at this firm must have been quite satisfactory when compared to 1834 and later. What is also remarkable is that in 1942 the firm still worked at full strength while the shortage of printing paper was already more and more pronounced.
