contents: Engraved frontispiece full of symbolism for an emblem book by Jacob Cats, with a picture of everything living on earth: people 'even from every faraway country', and 'women, servants and gentlemen'. There are also 'every tame animal' both in the air, in the sea and on the ground. In an explanatory verse everyone is advised not to submit blindly to all kinds of lusts (symbolised by the naked angel in the middle) but to climb up to 'wise Reason' and 'pure Morals'. The title of the emblem book is set in a cartouche and engraved in the usual hotchpotch of letters: roman, italic, and Gothic in various type sizes.
