contents: Iron hand presses replaced the wooden presses in common use till about 1855. This press of the Stanhope type, placed at Koninklijke Van Poll in Roosendaal, was built by G. van Heerde in Amsterdam. In the Netherlands, hand presses were produced only sporadically, most of them came from Belgium and France.
