contents: In a supercalender the paper is finished or burnished and provided with a gloss. This is done by conducting the paper between a number of rolls on top of each other, which are made alternately from steel and pressed paper. The steel rolls cause the burnishing, the paper rolls provide an elastic bottom layer.
