contents: The first page of this "Vaderlandsch A-B Boek voor de Nederlandsche Jeugd" gives a few alphabets which the children had to know in the 18th century. The further contents consists of pictures and various spelling, reading and writing exercises, which taught the pupils, apart from factual knowledge also the idea that they were `future citizens and citizenesses'. The prayers and biblical texts of the former textbooks have disappeared from this booklet inspired by the Enlightenment.
