contents: During the 19th century, the manufacture of wood engravings became a whole industry. The illustrations in the "Nieuw Nederlandsch Magazijn" of 1846 came primarily from Germany and France. On the left is an illustration in a piece dealing with games of chance. The articles in this periodical vary from the very short to a couple of pages and were generally interestingly written for a public willing to learn.
