contents: The typographic designer Piet Zwart (1885-1977) added from the late 1920s an important dimension to his work by the application of photomontage. He also supplied to the Rotterdam publishing house Brusse a number of remarkable covers prominently featuring photomontage. This cover is a striking example. Employing a designer such as Zwart is characteristic of the care with which the Brusses published their books.
