contents: This frontispiece illustrates a paean to the country seat of Hogerwoert. The classicistic book illustrations by Jan Goeree (1670-1731) are influenced by his master, the painter Gerard de Lairesse (1640-1711), who was famous in his day and who originated in Liège, but was active in the Northern Netherlands. Goeree was also a painter and the most sought after illustrator of his time.
