contents: Illustration of a 19th century printing shop. One of many engravings from children's periodical "Prenten-magazijn voor de jeugd", compiled by teacher Van Sandwijk en published by Schuitemaker between 1842 and 1852. "Prenten-magazijn" had a wide circulation, probably appeared quarterly, en each issue counted six sections. This image was part of the section on Dutch inventions and discoveries. In the accompanying text, the author not only talks about the history and relevance of the invention of printing, he also claims that Laurens Janszoon Coster, not Johannes Gutenberg, should be attributed for this invention.
