contents: The painter/draughtsman Jacobus Buys (1742-1801) and draughtsman/engraver Reinier Vinkeles (1741-1816) who engraved this print in 1789, are the most important representatives of a more academically oriented, neo-classicistic technique of illustrating, which arose in the 1770s. The atmosphere of their illustrations, especially those of Buys, is more sober and subdued than in the previous periods.
