contents: Behind the second and third window on the left of the entrance gate, the vaulted room is found in which the library was housed. Up to 1595, the collection of the library grew to 442 books, and, because of lack of space, a new building had to be found. In 1595 the library moved to the upper floor of the Faliede Bagijnkerk, on the other side of the Rapenburg. This illustration of the academy building comes from the album amicorum of a Leiden law student, Johannes ab Amstel a Mijnden. The caption reads: 'Dear viewer, this drawing shows you a Dutch university and shows you how the student population are showing off, when the northwester of winter makes it impossible to cleave the Dutch water with the ship of the Dionaeisic goddess'.
