contents: In this detail from a poster of 1892, two printers can be seen working on a wooden printing press. The printer is pulling the lever. To obtain more force he pushes with his right foot against a footboard. The illustration is a 17th century impression of the printing shop of Laurens Jansz. Coster in 1440. It was taken from the 'Laure-kranz voor Laurens Koster van Haerlem' by Petrus Scriverius dated 1628.
